Big Sing conductor, Gordon Hamilton

Gordon HamiltonThe ANCA Big Sing is an opportunity for choristers to be part of this national conference and sing in a massed SATB with the world renowned conductor, Gordon Hamilton.

Artistic Director and Conductor of The Australian Voices, Gordon Hamilton was born in Newcastle and, having lived and worked for five years in Germany as a conductor and composer, now resides in Brisbane. While in Germany, Gordon founded Northern Spirit, a young vocal ensemble committed to contemporary choral music. Under Gordon's direction Northern Spirit gave over fifty concerts in Germany, Spain, France, and Iceland. The choir premiered seventeen works and took part in four international choral festivals.

In September 2009 Gordon moved back to his homeland to take over as the new conductor and artistic director of one of Australia’s foremost youth choirs - The Australian Voices (TAV).

Gordon has received several international awards for his compositions, including first prize in the Coral Gables Congregational Church Florida 2006 Composition P

rize, and second prize at the International Chamber Days, Raumberg 2008 Composition Prize.

Participants of the Big Sing will rehearse daily working towards a performance in the closing concert.
Big Sing participants will also have the opportunity to attend 1 interest session per day as well as all the Key Note presentations and concerts.
Big Sing participants who choose the catered option will also be given morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea creating an opportunity to network and mix with other choristers and conductors.
All music is included in the Big Sing registration and participants are welcome to purchase tickets to the Opening welcome drinks and Conference Dinner.
